Hewitt's Meats Wins Awards at 2023 WAMP Convention
The Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors held their 85th annual convention April 13th-15th in Middleton, WI. This convention brings together small meat processors from across our state. With a tradeshow, educational sessions and the WI Specialty Meat Championships highlighting the show.
The WI Specialty Meat Championships is the largest competition of its kind in North America. Over 650 products are entered into 38 categories. Judges from across the nation score each entry on a point system of 1000 points. Flavor, External Appearance and Internal Appearance are the three criteria for judging, with Flavor having the highest allotment of points.
Hewitt’s entered 16 products this year. 11 of the 16 products placed in the top ten! Three products were chosen as top four finalists. All Beef Summer Sausage was chosen as Reserve Champion. Smoked Bratwurst with Cheddar Cheese won Champion honors. Finally, Bloody Mary Flavored Snack Sticks won Grand Champion honors.
These products were pulled directly from our production lines. No special production took place to craft our entries. We take pride in producing the highest quality products on a daily basis.
